Day 01- Arrive Colombo by international flight

On arrival the guests will be met at the airport arrival lobby and set off to Colombo.

City tour of Colombo – As the capital and main port of Sri Lanka, Colombo is home to many attractions, which include three sets of foreign rulers—the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British.

The Colombo Grand Mosque occupies a unique place in the life of the Muslim community in Ceylon from the times of ancient Sinhalese Kings. Its early origins are hidden in the dim past where legend and tradition are interwoven with history. Its significance and position for the Muslim community has been such that even today it takes a leading role in all the religious activities of the community. The decisions made by the Mosque committee on various religious issues based on the consensus, deliberations and agreement of the various Trustees, Imams of the many Jumuah Mosques in Colombo, and the Ulema, held regularly within its auspices and premises have, generally, been accepted by most of the Muslims in the whole Island.

The origin of the Mosque can be traced to the adventurous and pious Arab traders who used to carry on a lucrative trade between the Orient and the European ports in the Mediterranean in elephants, pearls, gemstones and spices during the period between the first and sixteenth centuries. This was a period when the Arabs had established lucrative trading posts on the Western coastal belt of Ceylon from Puttalam, in the North West, to Hambantota, in the South, as evidenced by the large number of Ceylon Moors, descended from them, living in these parts of the Island. It is hardly necessary to mention that the Arabs of that era were pioneers, not only in trade, commerce and accounting but also as skillful navigators and geographers, carrying this vast knowledge to the then known parts of the civilized world.

In the hustle and bustle of Pettah, Colombo’s core commercial district, is situated a most striking building, a spiritual haven called Jamiul Alfar Masjid. This mosque is remarkable because the architecture is Indo-Saracenic, incorporating pomegranate-shaped domes. But the most extraordinary feature is that each brick is painted red or white and used in contrasting designs, which gave rise to its common name, the Red Mosque.

Day 02- Colombo – Kandy

After breakfast proceed to Kandy. Arrive into the last stronghold of Sinhala Kings & UN World Heritage Site – the Hill Country capital of Kandy.

Evening wander around the lake and the streets of Kandy getting a feel for this wonderful city.

Day 03– Kandy – Peradeniya – Nanuoya – Nuwara Eliya

After Breakfast – Journey through the misty valleys and old tunnelways by Train. Be driven to Peradeniya station around 10 am (Times can differ) to catch the Train to Nanu-Oya. Your Chauffer will drop you off at the Peradeniya Train station and drive along with your luggage to pick you up from the Nanu-oya Train station and drive you to Nuwara Eliya. Lay back, relax and enjoy the scenic view and dancing waterfalls.

Sri Lanka has an excellent network of trains connecting to cities and remote villages and the tourist spots in Sri Lanka. The railway lines in Sri Lanka are a legacy of British rule in the island. The railways network is divided into four main rail lines, across this island. The Railway system in Sri Lanka is very picturesque when entering the hill country because of the winding tracks along the mountains especially on the Kandy – NanuOya line. Make sure, if you can, to sit on the right side of the train, as it offers the better view. the more popular line for the holiday maker is the “Udarata-Manike,” which simply translates as the “Maiden of the hills” which covers the entire picturesque mountain terrain and the popular tea country. The Kandy – Nanu-Oya train trip is considered one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.

Nuwara Eliya – land of tea-laden hillsides, gurgling waterfalls, stirring mountains and clear hill-country air. Here, in temperatures akin to a beautiful English summer’s day, is wonderful walking country, a chance to experience Sri Lankan scenery at its finest. Explore Nuwara Eliya – See how Ceylon tea is made and learn the art of becoming a discerning tea taster. Wander through the tea gardens and visit the local tea pluckers.

Day 04– Nuwara Eliya – Udwalawe

Proceed to Udawalawe. Afternoon visit the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe.

Day 05– Udwalawe- Colombo

After breakfast proceed to do a ½ Half day Jeep Safari at the Udawalawe National Park.

The park is situated just south of the Central Highlands, of which escarpment brings about an enrapturing backdrop. At the center of the park lies the Udawalawe Reservoir. Udawalawe National Park established in the year 1972, with the objective of protecting the catchment area of Udawalawe reservoir, which provides water for agriculture and hydro-power generation spreads over an area 30,821, resembles an African game park: it is mainly thorny-shrub jungle with grasslands. Keeping company to the herds of elephants, the main attraction of the park are the Water Buffalo, Wildboar, Spotted Deer, Sambur Deer, Jackal, Samber, Black-naped hare, mongooses, bandicoots, foxes, s the endemic Toque Macaque and Gray Langers. Sighting a Leopard and other smaller cats like Fishing cat & Jungle cat would be a bonus.

Later drive to Colombo.

Day 06– Colombo Airport
